Groceries : Always cheaper and the quickest way to feed yourself while at home
On Campus: East/West Side Markets: Though a bit pricey, these one-stop shops have basic groceries like bread, juice, milk, frozen foods, cereal, etc. as well as a large selection of snacks, soda, and junkfood.

Publix on 10th Street: A fully-stocked supermarket. Walking from East Campus, take a left once you reach Barnes and Noble, and walk down to the end of the road to find Publix on your right. In case you’re in need of office supplies, you’ll also pass an Office Depot on your way.
Publix at Atlantic Station: Georgia Tech has a grocery shuttle that runs to and from Atlantic Station on weekends and follows the Stinger route from noon to 5 pm.

Restaurants:
Tech Square
  • Water Haven: This recent addition to Tech Square opened during the summer. The setting is nice, the food is fairly priced, and students 21 and up can enjoy a well-stocked bar as well.
  • Tin Drum: A perennial favorite, this Thai/southeast asian restaurant on Tech Square is a good place to get your fix of noodles, rice, soup, and spring rolls.

Peachtree
Peachtree Street is home to one of the largest assortment of restaurants near campus. After passing Tech Square, take a left, then a right to go around the Biltmore, and continue on past Cyprus. Peachtree should be the next street you run into.
  • Noodle: Amazing Thai food at affordable prices ($8-$15).
  • Little Azios: Enjoy a gourmet thin-crust pizza at very cheap prices (a meal plus a drink should run you $6).
  • Prickly Pear: An excellent Mexican restaurant with an indoor bar and a great atmosphere.
  • Fresh to Order: Enjoy delicious sandwiches while sitting outside amongst the beautiful buildings of midtown.
  • The Vortex: No trip to Atlanta is complete without a trip to the Vortex; the burger joint with attitude and home of some of the juiciest burgers in the world. The Vortex has two locations, one on Peachtree (about a five minute walk from campus) and the other in Little Five Points (about a ten minute drive from campus). The food is marginally better at the Little Five Points location, but the Midtown version ain’t half bad either, and is closer to boot! Don’t forget to ask about the legendary Double Bypass!
  • Gordon Biersch: The CoC has hosted several parties here in the past. This is a big place with a live band and good food.
  • The Melting Pot: Though a full meal can be quite pricey at this temple to all things fondue, the appetizers and desserts are reasonably priced. An excellent option for a date or post-show snack.

West Campus

On west campus, if you walk up Hemphill you will find another strip of restaurants:

  • Skewerz: The one and ONLY Indian restaurant on campus. If you’ve just got to get your fix of Indian food, this place will do it for you. It won’t be winning any awards anytime soon, but it’s not half-bad, and cheap, too!
  • Rocky Mountain: This is the college pub on campus. This place is packed to the rafters on weekends with students enjoying cheap beer while watching sports on the multitude of screens filling the pub. For those seeking a bit of solid sustenance, good pizza as well as sandwiches are to be had here, too.
  • City Café: Great breakfast food, and an excellent place for getting dessert in the wee hours.
  • Lucky Buddha: Cheap Chinese food, another great option for satisfying the late-night munchies.
  • Firehouse Subs: An amazing sandwich shop known for the variety of sauces they have.

North Avenue
On east campus, adjoining the North Avenue apartments you will find two quick-and-dirty fast food joints great for late-night snack runs:
  • Wingnuts: The famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) on-campus wing joint that serves up a mean plate of wings and Cajun fries. Pick your sauce, pick your size, and hope for the best.
  • Quiznos: What can we say: another cheap subs option.
  • The Varsity: Despite being an Atlanta landmark for decades, you won’t find too many Tech students here. Go once to say you did, then wipe the grease from your fingers and get out of there.
